Responsibility Value Reason for Responsibility It is arguable that a corporation’s only purpose is to maximize returns to the shareholders of that company. It is widely accepted that corporations should stay within the boundaries of the law. However, the obligation that a corporation has towards society is often vague. A corporation that has greater ethical standards shows responsibility and character to their community to which includes employees, consumers, the environment, and all other stakeholders. New Global Citizens is an organization that receives financial assistance from others. The corporation gives the opportunity for teenagers to solve global challenges. Other corporations have invested money in NGC and other similar†¦show more content†¦According to a recent survey, 70 percent of American consumers questioned, stated they would be willing to pay more for a $100 product form a company that they believe to be socially responsible. (Connor, Michael. 2010) 59 percent of the American respondents claimed they would spend equal or more on a product from a corporation that outreach to communities through corporate social responsibility. (Connor, Michael. 2010) (Appendix D-1) Corporations that would benefit: Invest in future training: A corporation that would benefit from paying a fee to NGC would be Motorola. Motorola has stated that they are highly interested to inspire students to embrace subjects such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics. (Appendix D-2) This corporation has donated $5 million to Innovation Grants. (Motorola, 2010) They believe that new solutions are needed to encourage teenagers in this country to welcome more ideas in those subjects. New Global could greatly benefit from this corporation, while Motorola, in turn, would find a significant gain. Funding a student from NGC to become trained in skills that will be one day useful to Motorola is a proposition that both can prosper from. The student would also succeed by gaining a better education and therefore having more opportunities.
